Counseling Therapy
In our life experience, we may find ourselves caught in states of reactivity; losing touch with the essence of who and what we are. Sometimes, this results in abandoning practices and rituals that nourish our body, mind and soul. In session, I support clients in engaging in and exploring practices which support in rediscovering and celebrating their potential, balance and bliss.
In counseling, my approach is eclectic; it is grounded in values work, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and influenced by mindfulness informed therapies. As an energy therapist, my goal is to support clients in attending to all aspects of themselves — mental (examining beliefs, attitudes, thought processes), physical (healing emotional scars and feeling comfortable in one's skin), spiritual (exploring deeper meaning in our lives and of existence itself) and the life changing work of cultivating a soul connection and exploration.
I support mid to high functioning individuals who are navigating the waters of stress / anxiety and have a desire to evolve and expand through mindfulness and self-care practices which fuel emotional, mental / physical energies and overall well being. For clients who wish to dive deep into the roots of their stress / anxiety, I offer psycho-education and exercises to navigate this process (disclaimer: trauma work is not my specialty, although healing from it, is).. Goals of counseling therapy include developing a better understanding of forces that drive us from within. With self-compassion and loving kindness, we consider what thoughts, beliefs and choices fuel our purpose and passion for life and which ones stand in the way. A collaboration of building a life by intentional design is the outcome of the work, along with the tools to maintain it.
While I do not believe that there is a “one size fits all” approach to counseling, there are certain foundational components in my approach. I believe we all make the most progress in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Countless studies have shown that finding the right "fit" with a therapist is more important than the technique that is used. First and foremost, I am committed to making my clients feel comfortable and at ease. From that place of safety, counseling can help individuals develop greater self-awareness, gain insight into behavioral patterns and relationships, and understand the obstacles that hold us back. I am active, direct, yet gentle in session — my goal is to serve as a guide to help clients process, reframe, and re-pattern whatever stands in their way from leading a fulfilling and extraordinary life. Ultimately, I believe therapy supports a person in identify her needs, find a clearer vision for her life, and increase her capacity for love, intimacy, and happiness.
For clients interested in mind/body work, we incorporate aspects of traditional therapy with practices in mindfulness, breath work, kundalini yoga, guided imagery/visualization and meditation, I work with clients as a collaborative team, to design a program that works.
